At TPC Club, our aim is to offer a relaxed and well-rounded getaway that brings together good food, a beautiful setting, and a range of activities in a safe and welcoming environment. Located just 20 km south of Moshi, the Club is set against open landscapes and enjoys views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Guests can enjoy a round of golf on the 9-hole course, a game of tennis, or time by the swimming pool. For those seeking a slower pace, the Club offers plenty of space to unwind, whether that is relaxing on the veranda with a cup of locally sourced Kilimanjaro coffee or taking a gentle walk along the golf course surrounded by mature trees.
Food is an important part of the experience at TPC Club. With our own farm on the property, we are working towards a farm-to-table approach that highlights fresh, locally grown produce and seasonal ingredients, allowing us to continue improving the quality and authenticity of our dining experience.
TPC Club is part of the wider Tanganyika Planting Company, a flagship operation with a rich history dating back to the 1930s. From its earliest days, the estate was shaped by agriculture, community, and international influence, including historic Danish ownership linked to A. P. Møller and the Maersk legacy. That heritage is still woven into the property today, not as a museum piece, but as a lived backdrop that gives TPC its distinctive sense of place.
Over the decades, TPC has evolved alongside northern Tanzania, growing into one of the region’s most significant operations. Since acquiring TPC in 2000, the business has expanded substantially, cultivating around 8,000 hectares and becoming the largest employer in northern Tanzania. In just over twenty years, factory capacity and sugar production have more than doubled, reflecting long-term investment and a commitment to sustainable growth. Plans continue to develop, including projects such as a distillery designed to maximise value from molasses and strengthen the domestic market.
TPC’s story is also one of innovation. The operation pioneered cogeneration in Tanzania and was the first company to enter into a Standardised Power Purchase Agreement with TANESCO. Today, the power plant supplies steam and electricity to the factory and irrigation network, producing approximately 90,000 MWh of electricity per season, with around 17,000 MWh supplied to the national grid.
Within this wider history, TPC Club and the River House offer guests a more personal connection to the estate’s past. The River House reflects mid-century modern design, carefully preserved with original details that speak to the property’s layered history, including the Maersk emblem set into the pool. It is a reminder that TPC is not only a place to stay, but a living landscape shaped by nearly a century of heritage, progress, and community.
